Dinosaur Printing

Today the children really enjoyed making marks using the feet of the dinosaurs!

#oe My dinosaur is walking blue footprints all over the paper.

#aj Mine is walking everywhere and going blob, blob blob! 

Some children explored what happened when they printed two colours together:

#st It’s going brown.

#tw It’s got loads of colourful feet on it.

Exploring our New Den

The children were so surprised when they walked into Nursery today to see that our room has been changed around!

Recently in Nursery, a lot of children have been creating their own dens and cosy areas using the crates or the pillows in the Reading Area. Through observations, the Nursery teachers therefore thought it would be a good idea to support the interests of the children and build them a den.

During busy time, the children had a fantastic time exploring the new area. They transported different objects from around the classroom into the new den. Throughout the day, some children then took some reading books to the new area and sat quietly reading and exploring their stories.

We look forward to continuing to observe the children using the new den area as a role play and quiet space, as well seeing what lovely learning opportunities it creates for them.

Dinosaur Small World

Today some of the Afternoon Nursery children decided that they wanted to make a place for the dinosaur to live. I asked the question “What would a dinosaur house look like?” #ws said It would have wood all over it. #mma said It would be like a forest and have some sticks in. #tw said It would look like a muddy forest place. 

Using the children’s ideas, I then suggested that we should create a ‘muddy forest’ for the dinosaurs to go. We collected mud, leaves and sticks from outdoors and worked together to create a home for the dinosaurs.

The children were then really engaged in dinosaur related play, and were very proud that it was all created using their ideas.

Father Christmas is coming!

This morning, this group of children were very engaged in some Christmas role-play together.

#ac We need to go to sleep for Santa!

#lj Lets go and lie down!

The children all gathered in the Reading Area and fell asleep for Father Christmas to come.

#dm He not coming until we sleep.

#ws It’s too noisy we need to be fast asleep or he won’t come.

A couple of minutes later, #oj came over to the children playing the part of Father Christmas. He delivered the children all a piece of play dough each!
